Dragonboat paddling – Villisti Vuoksella dragonboat event, Sunday 7 July
Parties interested in taking part in the paddling event have been challenged to form teams of 12–20 people, and there is room for ten teams. The event is being organised as a part of the Regional Council of South Karelia’s ‘South Karelia Asia’ project in cooperation with the cities of Imatra and Lappeenranta.
Before the start of the race in the afternoon, the teams have the opportunity to get to know the sport and practise paddling in the bay during the morning hours. The race will be held in rounds of two dragonboats, and the distance is 260 metres.

The day’s schedule:
9 am–12 noon paddling practice for the teams
12 noon -> paddling race.
After the race, there will be an awards ceremony.
The shores of the Varpasaari bay offer excellent sites for watching the race and a chance to have a picnic with your friends or family. The restaurant at the fishing park will be open and serving all hungry and thirsty souls.
Free entrance – car parking at Imatra sports hall’s parking area.
